There are 23 categories in this year’s FAB Awards, which attracted a record-breaking number of entries. There will also be additional special judges’ awards.

Commenting on the latest finalists, The Moodie Davitt Report Chairman and FAB Founder Martin Moodie said, “The standard of this year’s entries is undoubtedly the highest in FAB’s 14-year history, a new quality bar reflected across each ultra-competitive category.

“The FAB Airport Food & Beverage Marketing Campaign of the Year is a pre-eminent example, featuring some of the most brilliantly conceived and executed campaigns you will ever see in the airport world, often with spectacularly transformative results.

“Our decision to split certain awards by airport passenger volume has been well vindicated, notably in the FAB Airport Casual Dining Restaurant of the Year category. Today we announce a compelling 12-strong finalists’ line-up for the under 20 million passenger category, including some of the best entries in the FAB Awards 2025.

“For FAB Airport Lounge of the Year, the extensive line-up of finalists reflects both a huge number of entries and also our decision to widen the field to all airport lounges. This is in line with the exciting launch of Airport Hospitality World, the latest addendum to our publishing platform and a major extension to FAB in 2026.

“The judging is incredibly tight across multiple categories but that is as it should be. We can promise therefore that the FAB Awards roll call of 2025 will offer a stellar collective representation of excellence and innovation.” ‍

FAB just got ‘FAB-er’, more hospitable and more inclusive

News

INTERNATIONAL. The Moodie Davitt Report is proud to release further details of the 2026 edition of The Airport Food & Beverage (FAB) + Hospitality Conference & Awards, which will for the first time embrace our new ‘Airport Hospitality World’ title dedicated to lounges and all related airport hospitality services.

FAB 2026 will take on an extended form, featuring an exhibition and the ultimate one-stop airport hospitality and food & beverage conference and awards platform.

Countdown time: There are just 26 days before what promises to be a blockbuster FAB takes place in Barcelona

Besides lounges, hotels, Meet & Greet, concierge services and more, FAB 2026 will also include an historic inclusion element, inspired by Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru’s recent introduction of a pioneering Sensory Room, a thoughtfully designed space tailored for neurodivergent passengers and individuals with sensory sensitivities.

The sensory room at Kempegowda International Airport BengaluruTerminal 2 provides a calming, engaging and therapeutic environment for individuals with sensory sensitivities

Research in sensory regulation and occupational therapy indicate that even brief periods (15–30 minutes) in a calming, sensory-friendly environment can significantly alleviate feelings of being overwhelmed and enhance well-being, making travel smoother and more manageable

The Moodie Davitt Report Founder & Chairman Martin Moodie said he was stirred by a meeting this week with Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) Managing Director Hari Marar, who in describing the Sensory Room said, “What kind of hospitality is it that leaves people out?”

Bangalore International Airport Limited Managing Director Hari Marar (left) with Martin Moodie at the BIAL-run TAJ Bangalore today: “We want to be recognised as an airport that takes accessibility and inclusion to a level that nobody else has done”

“That struck a powerful chord with me, especially as I had just visited the wondrous brand new Mitti Café at Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru less than 48 hours earlier.”

“As we have reported extensively, Mitti Café in India is a remarkable social enterprise founded by the extraordinary Alina Alam. Embracing the mantra ‘The Magic of Abilities’, it is dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities by providing them with opportunities for economic independence and dignity.

The Magic of Abilities: The latest and most ambitious Mitti Café incarnation at Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru opened on 28 May. Aura Dezyne Founder and Principal Designer Payal Khanna, a speaker at FAB 2025 in Barcelona designed this joyous environment.

“Buoyed by the pioneering support of Bangalore International Airport Limited and Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru, Mitti Café has become not just a social enterprise but also a movement.

Martin Moodie meets the fantastically professional and welcoming Mitti Café team just hours after the new outlet opened. Look out for more, on The Moodie Blog, coming soon.

“Our new, expanded FAB will move beyond the usual confines of industry events and delve deeply into what airport hospitality really does – or should – represent.

“FAB just got ‘FAB-er’, more hospitable and more inclusive,” Moodie concluded.

The exciting FAB 2026 venue will be revealed during a special handover ceremony at the Gala Dinner for this year’s FAB in Barcelona on 26 June. ‍

News

SPAIN. The Moodie Davitt Report is delighted to unveil the next phase of finalists in the Airport FAB + Hospitality Awards, to be held in Barcelona, Spain on 26 June.

There are 23 categories in this year’s FAB Awards, which attracted a record-breaking number of entries. There will also be additional special judges’ awards.

In a change from previous years, all finalists will receive a FAB 2025 Order of Merit Award, alongside regional and global winners. In certain of the evening’s premier categories, additional awards will be made according to size of airport (by passenger numbers) as well as an overall accolade.

As we continue our phased finalist announcement, we spotlight two more categories:

  • Airport Lounge Food & Beverage Offer of the Year: With passengers’ priorities shifting in a post-pandemic world, this award highlights lounges that excel in providing hygienic, convenient and high-quality food & beverage choices. This year’s finalists showcase concepts offering a wide range of fresh, customised options that cater to diverse preferences, tastes, dietary needs, convenience and a strong sense of place to enhance the traveller experience.
  • Airport Instagrammable Location of the Year: As social media shapes traveller expectations, the aesthetic appeal of airport venues matter more than ever. Finalists in this category demonstrate how exceptional service, combined with striking visual appeal, can transform a travel venue into a memorable, Instagram-worthy destination.

The Moodie Davitt Report Founder & Chairman Martin Moodie (left) leads a distinguished panel of industry experts judging this year’s FAB Awards, representing top names in hospitality and travel retail, including industry veteran and consultant Nick Inkster (centre) and Concession Planning International Managing Partner Susan Gray

The Moodie Davitt Report Chairman and Founder of the FAB Awards Martin Moodie said, “This year’s FAB Awards are by far the most hotly contested in the event’s proud 14-year history.

“The incredible response underlines the fact that the F&B, lounges and wider hospitality space is in the ascendancy as never before. We are talking not just quantitatively but also qualitatively. Many of the entries make the tastebuds tingle and the spirit soar.

“It’s also deeply encouraging to note the innate consumer-centricity of so many entries; the rapid and creative response to consumer trends; the burgeoning commitment to taste and sense of place; the emphasis on key social principles; and the unrelenting focus on ensuring airport F&B is not a poor relation of its downtown equivalent.”

Other notable names joining the judging team this year are (from left) ECE Marketplaces Project Director – Leasing Services Jonathan Doughty; Hunter Palmer – Global Retail Solutions Co-Founder Nick Goddard-Palmer; The Hayward Partnership Airport and Airline F&B and M&A Specialist Robert Shepherd; and Trippas White Group CEO Kevin Zajax
