Suzanne Merrell
Bringing over three decades of expertise in the food & beverage industry, Suzanne Merrell joined Toronto Pearson International Airport in 2011 with a vision to revolutionise the airport dining scene. Her leadership aims to mirror Toronto’s rich culinary diversity and excellence within the airport’s restaurant offerings by examining industry trends and future innovations.
Merrell honed her skills in various roles across Canada, working in esteemed restaurants and hotels. In 1999, Suzanne transitioned to a corporate role with CARA Group in Mississauga, Ontario, playing a pivotal part in spearheading the retail dining division of their newly launched healthcare portfolio. Following the division’s acquisition by Compass Group, she ascended to the role of National Marketing Director, contributing her expertise across North American markets.
In 2007, Merrell’s career took a strategic turn when she was appointed Vice President of Operations and Innovation at EVO, a company specialising in vegetarian consumer-packaged goods. This role underscored her ability to blend operational acumen with innovative product development.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Merrell’s deep passion for the food industry influences her broader community involvement. She has dedicated her time to serving on the advisory board for the Humber College School of Hospitality and actively participates in several women’s leadership groups. These groups concentrate on the education and mentorship of emerging leaders in the industry, reinforcing her commitment to nurturing the next generation of business and hospitality professionals.
Merrell attended the University of Guelph, where she pursued her degree in Hotel and Food Administration.
