Sandro Bottega in sede

Sandro Bottega

President, Bottega S.p.A.

Sandro Bottega is President of Bottega S.p.A. Following the loss of his father, Sandro began managing Distilleria Bottega and shaping his adventure in the world of grappa and wine, together with his mother Rosina and siblings Barbara and Stefano. He is fully at home not only in the vineyards surrounding the company, but also in the cellar and among the distillery’s copper stills.

In four decades, he has built a company that is now present in the markets of more than 160 countries around the world. Over the years, he has been able to diversify, offering Prosecco alongside grappa, a wide range of sparkling wines, the great reds of Valpolicella and Tuscany, as well as Limoncino and sweet cream-based liqueurs.

In 2009 he was made a Knight of the Republic. In 2014, he created the ‘Prosecco Bar’ concept inspired by the philosophy of the Venetian bacaro with the aim of enhancing Italy’s gastronomic excellence with Prosecco and other wines. To date, 30 Prosecco Bars have been franchised and licensed in 12 international airports across Europe and Asia, with over 1.5 million customers. In 2018 Sandro Bottega received the Riedel Wine Maker of the Year award in Toronto. In 2022 the duty-free and travel retail sales of Bottega Gold surpassed that of Moet & Chandon (source IWSR 2022) and became the world’s best-selling sparkling wine in the channel. In the same year, the research company TR BUSINESS M1ndset awarded Bottega Gold at The Travel Retail Awards as the world’s most popular product in the Travel Retail channel. In 2023, Mediobanca considered Bottega Spa to be the fourth most efficient company in the wine sector. Since then, the company has been a member of the Leonardo Committee.  In 2024 Wine Searcher noted that Bottega Gold is the world’s most popular and in-demand Prosecco online.

In 42 years, Bottega has grown from a turnover of €30,000 to €96 million in 2024.
