In a world of fast-paced terminals and ever-evolving passenger expectations, these are the individuals and teams – the greeters, the creators, the doers – who weave warmth, care and excellence into every interaction.

“Their quiet acts of service, from a heartfelt smile to a perfectly crafted meal, transform passenger journeys and inspire those around them. This is our moment to say, ‘We see you, and we’re endlessly grateful for your extraordinary efforts’.”

News

INDIA. Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) will host the 2026 edition of the Airport Food & Beverage (FAB) + Hospitality Conference and Awards in Bengaluru.

The news was announced at last night’s (26 June) FAB Awards in Barcelona, with dates for next year to be confirmed soon.

A special handover ceremony took place at the close of the FAB Awards, with an exchange of gifts by this year’s host airport company Aena and 2026 host BIAL.

From beautiful Barcelona to breathtaking Bengaluru: At the handover ceremony, Bangalore International Airport Limited Vice President Commercial Development Pravat Paikray (left) accepted the hosting rights for next year from Barcelona-El Prat Josep Tarradellas Airport Managing Director Eva Valenzuela (second right). Paikray honoured Valenzuela, Martin Moodie and Dermot Davitt with garlands from Bengaluru as part of the ceremony.

The Korean airport won the ultimate Airport Food & Beverage Offer of the Year accolade, presented today (26 June) during a memorable gala dinner at the magnificent Maritime Museum of Barcelona.

The Incheon International Airport Corporation-operated travel hub was also awarded the Asia Pacific title in the same category.

The other regional winners were Denver International Airport for the DEN Concourse Marketplace (Americas); Areas for its F&B programme at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport (Europe); and two-time overall winner Qatar Duty Free for its renowned F&B offer at Hamad International Airport (Middle East & Africa).

One of the judges had noted: “This entry exemplifies the value of  constantly keeping improving. The Incheon F&B offer has transformed and become an absolute powerhouse for the airport commercially and a highly respected and loved part of the guest experience.

“This journey has not been an easy one for the airport and so this makes it so much more impressive for what they have achieved. The scale and diversity of the offer is incredible.

Incheon International Airport Corporation Manager (F&B Management Team) Seungpil Lim proudly collected the Airport Food & Beverage Offer of the Year Award

“This entry shows that human touches and a curated focus on the guest and their experiences will deliver huge commercial success and that makes it a standout submission.”

These airport submissions were among a record 430 fiercely competitive entries received for the FAB Awards and FAB Superstars Awards (see our story here) categories this year, all of which recognise excellence across the travel F&B and hospitality sector.

The winners of the 23 categories were revealed at the superb gala dinner courtesy of hosts Spanish airports operator Aena, with food service provided by Areas and support from Avolta for the cocktail reception.

There were also two special judges’ awards presented. The first, the FAB Award For Daring Innovation, went to Avolta’s Hungry Club, which features the culinary genius of Michelin-starred Spanish Chef Dabiz Muñoz.

Bottega President Sandro Bottega was honoured with a special award for his Outstanding Contribution to the Airport F&B industry. In announcing the award, The Moodie Davitt Report Founder & Chairman Martin Moodie described the Italian entrepreneur as a “globetrotting business genius”.

Sandro Bottega created the Prosecco Bar concept and has to date developed with partners almost 30 expressions of the concept across Europe and Asia, “serving and delighting and putting a smile on the face and a bubble or two into the step of some 1.5 million customers a year”, Moodie said.

FAB Awards: Food Hall of the Year – Airport ≥20 million passengers finalists

News

SPAIN. With The 2025 Airport Food and Beverage (FAB) + Hospitality Conference & Awards approaching fast, The Moodie Davitt Report is delighted to reveal the finalists in another highly popular category – Food Hall of the Year – Airport ≥20 million passengers.

The 2025 Award winners will be revealed at the FAB 2025 Gala Dinner in Barcelona on 26 June.

There are 23 categories in this year’s FAB Awards, which attracted a record-breaking number of entries. There will also be additional special judges’ awards.

Commenting on the latest shortlist, The Moodie Davitt Report Chairman and Founder of the FAB Awards Martin Moodie said: “Whatever the parlance, food halls or courts represent to me the ultimate democratisation of airport food & beverage. But the implicit concept of ‘something for everyone’ should never be dumbed down to ‘anything for everyone’.

“In fact, I would contend that it is airport food courts/halls that most make or break an airport’s reputation for the quality vs value relationship and for caring about the travelling consumer.

“This year’s finalists represent an eclectic mix of offers, environments and philosophies and, interestingly, the highest average score of any category. We talk about photo-finishes in horse racing; well the FAB Food Hall of the Year – Airport ≥20M passengers category requires a panoramic shot. That’s how close the contest is between the top contenders.” ‍

FAB Food Hall of the Year – Airport ≥20M passengers finalists

DEN Food Hall – Marczyk Fine Foods, ChoLon Modern Asian, and Teatulia Tea & Coffee, Denver International Airport, USA

Today The Moodie Davitt Report is delighted to reveal the finalists in an all-important category for any domestic or international gateway – FAB Airport Food to Go Offer of the Year.

The 2025 Award winners will be revealed at the FAB 2025 Gala Dinner in Barcelona on 26 June.

“We are thrilled to see such a global spread of entries, from Australia to Austria, China to Colombo, Europe to Ethiopia, and Kazakhstan to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”

FAB 2025 heats up as Michelin-starred Torres brothers join the speaker line-up

News

SPAIN. The conference programme for the upcoming Airport Food and Beverage (FAB) + Hospitality Conference & Awards 2025 has gained star power with the addition of Michelin-starred twin chefs Javier and Sergio Torres of Cocina Hermanos Torres.

Hosted by Spanish airports operator Aena, the only global airport food & beverage and hospitality event will take place on 25-26 June in Barcelona, Spain, bringing together senior executives from airports, F&B concessionaires and hospitality service providers, as well as other business partners from around the world.

Owned and organised by The Moodie Davitt Report, the highly anticipated annual event will culminate in the FAB Awards Ceremony during the Gala Dinner on 26 June, with the FAB Superstars winners unveiled earlier during the conference.

Barcelona-born chefs Javier and Sergio Torres spice up the FAB stage with their innovative culinary vision

The Torres brothers will join Avolta CEO Xavier Rossinyol for a compelling discussion, titled From the Kitchen to the Boardroom – An Audience with…, moderated by The Moodie Davitt Report Founder and Chairman Martin Moodie.

Hailing from a culinary family in Barcelona, Javier and Sergio Torres found early inspiration in the kitchen of their grandmother Catalina.

Following formal training, they refined their craft in top Michelin-starred restaurants such as The Reno and Neichel of Barcelona.

Javier enhanced his culinary background by working at various restaurants across Spain and at Philippe Rochat’s acclaimed restaurant in Switzerland, formerly under Fredy Girardet. At the same time, Sergio’s journey took him to France, where he gained experience at Michelin-starred restaurants including Pedro Subijana’s Akelarre, and the Plaza Athénée in Paris.

Their culinary journey took them to São Paulo with the opening of Eñe in 2007, then brought their culinary vision back to Spain with Dos Cielos Barcelona in 2008, securing their first Michelin star in 2010 and a second in 2017.

The brothers expanded their brand by establishing Space Illusion, a creative hub in their grandmother’s former home, and by launching Dos Cielos Madrid within the luxury Gran Hotel Meliá Palacio de los Duques in 2017.

Following the closure of Dos Cielos in Barcelona, the brothers opened Cocina Hermanos Torres in July 2018 in their birthplace. It quickly earned two Michelin stars and three Soles from the Repsol Guide by 2019, later gaining a third Michelin star in 2022 and a green star for sustainability in 2023.

Committed to education and inclusion, the brothers are developing initiatives for young culinary talents and youth with disabilities. Last year, they were ranked 20th in The Best Chef Awards International List.
