Stephen Martin
Steve Martin is Retail Director at London Stansted. He joined in April 2022 to deliver the retail transformation strategy and focus on post-pandemic recovery subsequently evidenced by London Stansted being the fastest recovered London airport in terms of passenger numbers. That growth has led the airport to exceed 30 million passengers this year for the first time.
Steve has worked with retail partners to drive revenues +33% over the last three years despite lack of development space.
He has contributed to the wider terminal transformation design and led retail strategy and planning, which will see the airside retail footprint at Stansted double in size to 21,000sq m of lettable retail floor area. With all consents in place and construction work having already started, the extended terminal will open in autumn 2028.
Two-thirds of the new lettable floor area will be dedicated to F&B, with three of those units benefitting from in-unit mezzanines and the centre piece totalling over 1,500sq m with prime views of the runway. This is an incredibly exciting new chapter in the evolving history of London Stansted, the UK’s most connected airport to Europe and with over 200 destinations to choose from.
In 2028 London Stansted will have completed its transformation project and see passenger levels increase to 43 million per year by 2032. This will make London Stansted the busiest single terminal airport in Europe and top three globally.
Prior to joining MAG Steve held several positions in property retail, including 18 years at Boots UK where among other roles he was Senior Portfolio Manager for UK and Ireland, overseeing the strategy for over 2,200 stores, including travel retail.
