Javier Torres and Sergio Torres
Twins from Barcelona, Javier and Sergio Torres have had a love for cooking since their childhood thanks to the influence of their grandmother, Catalina.
The brothers went to the cooking school in the mid-1980s, completing their training and going on to work in Michelin Star restaurants such as The Reno and Neichel of Barcelona. Javier gained further experience at restaurants throughout Spain, as well as Philippe Rochat (formerly Fredy Girardet) in Switzerland. Meanwhile, Sergio’s culinary journey took him to France and Michelin Star restaurants such as Pedro Subijana’s Akelarre and Plaza Athénée in Paris.
Following a trip to Brazil, in 2007 Javier and Sergio embarked on a new gastronomic adventure and opened Eñe in Sao Paolo, followed by a second venue in Rio de Janeiro in 2009.
They returned to their Spanish roots with the 2008 opening of their restaurant Dos Cielos Barcelona. With this, they earned their first Michelin star in December 2010 and a second in 2017.
The brothers continued to expand and in addition to inaugurating the Space Illusion, their creative laboratory in their grandmother’s former home, in 2017 they opened Dos Cielos Madrid inside luxury urban resort Gran Hotel Meliá Palacio de los Duques.
After deciding to close Dos Cielos Barcelona, in July 2018 Cocina Hermanos Torres was launched in their birthplace. The restaurant was quickly recognised in 2019 with two Michelin Stars and three Soles of the Repsol Guide. It has since earned a third Michelin Star in 2022 and achieved Michelin’s green star in 2023.
Javier and Sergio plan to develop training projects, such as a High-Performance Food Centre to help culinary talents hone their skills, as well as a social centre for young people with disabilities.
In 2024 the brothers were 20th in The Best Chef Awards International List.
