FAB 2019: Stellar speakers from the airport world head powerful line-up for Dallas event

The best of North America, the best of the world. The 2019 Airport Food & Beverage (FAB) Conference, Exhibition & Awards, which will take place in Dallas on 26-27 June, will feature a powerful line-up of industry leaders from around the globe. Among the international airports represented will be DXB (Dubai International), Hong Kong International and London Gatwick, as a compelling programme takes shape.

Dubai Airports Executive Vice President – Commercial Eugene Barry will feature in a special session early in the programme, when he will share DXB’s consumer-centric vision of the future. Hong Kong International Airport General Manager Retail & Advertising Alby Tsang will speak about the commercial strategy of one of Asia’s most commercially progressive hubs, which is currently implementing a hugely ambitious overhaul of its F&B offer.

DXB’s consumer-centric vision, and the changing face of F&B at the world’s leading international airport, will be a highlight of FAB 2019.

Other distinguished airport speakers include Gatwick Airport Head of Retail Rachel Bulford and Great Hall Partners, Ferrovial Airports CEO Ignacio Castejón.

They will be joined by a host of top airport executives, including Vancouver Airport Authority Director, Commercial Services – Terminals Mirela Rusu; Vantage Airport Group (Chicago) Management – Midway Partnership CEO,Sammy Patel; and, from the host airport, Dallas Fort Worth Executive Vice President of Customer Experience and Revenue Management Kenneth Buchanan and Vice President Concessions Zenola Campbell.

Experienced airport commercial executive Dan Cappell, now a Director at aviation consultancy Leigh Fisher, will add his insights into the airport F&B business model.

They will be joined by several top names from the concession community (details to be announced next week), design experts, consumer insight specialists, restaurateurs and chefs.

The two-day conference will address the challenges, opportunities and issues facing travel F&B. The event will assess the rise of healthy and eco-friendly eating; the fusion of physical and digital to enhance the consumer experience; and the critical role of Sense of Place in design and cuisine. The programme will also feature specialists from the culinary world who will talk about global foodie trends.

The 2019 FAB Awards are set to be hotly contested, with nominations pouring in since they were announced in January. Details of the awards categories are available on the event website here: airportfab.events/awards. The deadline for submitting nominations is Friday 5 April.

Dallas/Fort Worth Airport set to host FAB-ulous social programme at June event

Preparations are underway for what promises to be a dazzling social events programme in Dallas and Fort Worth during the annual Airport Food and Beverage Conference & Awards 2019. The event, hosted by Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, will be held at The Westin Galleria Dallas Hotel on 26-27 June.

The programme will begin with a tour of the airport’s international terminals on the morning of Wednesday 26 June, conducted by the airport commercial team.

Delegates are invited to sign up for the tour when they register for the event on the FAB 2019 website. Early bird rates for the conference are available until 21 April.

At the close of the first day of the conference, delegates will be taken on a short bus journey from Dallas, westwards to Fort Worth, and into a world of country & western culture and cuisine for the FAB Opening Cocktail. Suits, ties and heels will be replaced by checked shirts, denim skirts and cowboy hats and boots, as delegates are invited to enjoy an evening of true Texas hospitality in the city’s historic Stockyards area.

Delegates can look forward to a FAB-ulous, fun programme, as they dance to country and western music, test their skills rodeo riding and sample the best of Texan cuisine.

The two-day event will close on 27 June with the annual FAB Awards ceremony and gala dinner, which will take place at The Westin Galleria Hotel in Dallas. Dinner guests will enjoy an evening of celebration as the industry gathers to discover the winners of the FAB Awards, which celebrate the best in airport dining around the world.

Nominations for the 2019 FAB Awards are already flooding in. Details of the awards categories are available on the event website here: airportfab.events/awards. The deadline for submitting nominations to the FAB Awards is Friday 5 April.

Delegates travelling to Texas, who wish to extend their stay before or after the FAB event, can find out more about activities in both Dallas and Fort Worth via the event website “What’s on” page: airportfab.events/whats-on.
