Pedro Fontana has been the Chief Executive of Areas Worldwide (the Concessions Business Division of Elior Group) since September 2015.
He is a BA graduate from ESADE Barcelona and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School. He joined Areas in 1998 as a Board member, becoming a Vice-President in 2001.
Pedro’s professional life was spent mainly in the banking sector with the global retail financial group BBVA. He served as President of Banca Catalana from 1994 to 2000, and Chief Executive of BBVA Cataluña until 2009.
Alongside his banking career Pedro was Chief Executive of NH Hotels in the late 1980s, and he was Chief Operating Officer of the organising committee of the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games. He has also been President of the Círculo de Economía and President of ESADE Board of Trustees.
He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Barcelona Trade Fair (La Fira), editorial group Zeta, international pharmaceutical distribution company Indukern and hedge fund Tyrus Capital. Pedro sits on the Plenary of Barcelona Chamber of Commerce and on the Board of Trustees of Ramon Llull University.
