
Mike Ward
Mike Ward joined Manchester Airport in 2017 as Head of Retail, responsible for the day-to-day performance of the retail offer across three terminal and the ground transport interchange facility. Manchester, the UK’s third busiest airport, is part of the MAG group which also includes East Midlands and London Stansted airports in the UK together with a growing UK and US lounge business, extensive property interests and a strategy of further global expansion.
At Manchester Mike is accountable for setting and delivering the retail strategy for a new £1 billion terminal. The first phase, scheduled to open in April 2020, includes 35 new retail units, cafés, bars and restaurants; a further phase is to follow two years later.
Before Manchester Mike was Head of Retail at Transport for London, where he developed the strategy to reposition the estate of over 1,000 retail units to better reflect the vibrant London market. Prior to that he was Retail Director at Network Rail, accountable for commercial revenues at the company’s 18 largest railway stations, its national advertising and car parking businesses, and the commercial development of its extensive network of railway arches
