Michael Thornton’s hospitality career began in the long-established Blooms Hotel, Dublin, working in both the food & beverage and reception departments.
After that he spent a year in the renowned hospitality training hotel The Dunraven Arms, gaining invaluable training from industry professionals.
Three years of study at Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology followed, during which he became proficient in every aspect of the hospitality industry. On completion of his studies Michael spent a year at the exclusive Mount Juliet Estate in Kilkenny before leaving Ireland to manage several successful bars and restaurants in Germany.
Returning to Ireland in 1998, Michael worked for Irish Distillers Pernod Ricard as part of the Management Team in the newly opened, award winning Old Jameson Distillery visitor attraction. He then spent nine years as Catering Manager at Dublin City University, managing nine separate units on the expansive university campus.
Joining Marqette as General Manager when it opened in 2015, Michael has brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to the operation at Dublin Airport Terminal 1.
